Concert News

The Concert has now been announced for the evening of Sunday April 14th, (with the venue to be confirmed), for a 'Titanic's 100th Anniversary', as 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s maiden voyage we plan to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s journey, by playing a concert of music inspired by, or relating to The Titanic and ocean going journeys . We look forward to seeing you to share the experience with us.

The band are also thinking about running a concert of music requested by all of you.  If you have a piece of music that you would like to hear, or dedicate to someone, then get your requests in to us, along with a donation, and we will play the piece at the concert, and tell everyone about your dedication.  These dedications can also be written into the front of the conductor's score for all time.  We will even print you a certificate for you to keep, or give to whoever you like, as evidence that this special piece has their name in it.  We will also publish a list on the website of the piece, and their dedication, along with when it was played for them. If you have any thoughts on this, please let the band know, and we will start looking this out and practising it!  This has proved very popular for other bands, and we are expecting this to be quite a success as well.  Remember, you can always add a dedication for a donation to the band to any of our pieces in the Library.

Along a similar theme, we are hoping to take a list of music that we have with us to the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show, where you can use us like a jukebox.  Donate some money for the Tune you want us to play, and we will perform it for you there, and then. !

Venue of FREE 'Titanic' Concert announced

The band are pleased to announce that the venue for the forthcoming 'Titanic' Concert will be the Methodist Church on the High St. in Gillingham.  This is a splendid venue for musical events, both for the band, and the audience.

The musical journey will set sail at 7pm with a brief stop in port at half time.

We are also pleased to announce that it will be a Free concert, with a retiring collection at the end, so you can pay as little or as much as you feel comfortable with.

If you would rather donate something more substantial, we will also have a list of music that the band would like to purchase, so you can buy one of these pieces, and have your details added to the music as a lasting contribution for the band.  Also you could add a dedication for a loved one to one of our other pieces already in the library.

We look forward to seeing you there.

St. Mary's Gillingham Scout Group Donates to the Band

The band would like to thank Colin Westbrook from the St. Mary's Gillingham Scout Group for their donation, presented at the Band's AGM for the St. Georges day parade earlier in the year.  The band led the St. George's day parade down Gillingham High St. and into St. Mary's Church for the service, under rather wet conditions.  The band also led the parade back up the High St. in thankfully drier, brighter conditions.
